Stillwater Championship - Stillwater Country Club

Scott R Chilcutt, Stillwater, OK (June 2, 2013)  The Stillwater Championship marks the half way in the season and the 1st day of the Oklahoma Tour Summer Series Points to go along with the National Championship eligibility requirements for one round after June 1st.

Scott Ingerson picked up his first Tournament Champion Trophy, presented by Carlisle's Engraving.



RESULTS:

Championship Flight:  Curt Howard of Sapulpa, OK volunteered to jump into the Championship flight so we could have the flight and made the most of it with his fifth win on the year.  Checotah, OK member, James Fowler , coming off a win at the Broken Arrow Open tried to make a sweep of Stillwater events after winnning earlier at the Cowboy Classic - Lakeside just fell two strokes back after going +4 on the back nine.

Palmer Flight:  Okarche, OK first year player Rick Herbst grabbed his second win on the season with the help of birdies on the par 4 -2nd and par 5 - 10th. Runner up Clayton Badger of Drumright, OK picked up his best finish since his second place, National Championship qualification finish at the Texas Open at Horseshoe Bay.  One stroke back of Badger, Bill McConnell of Norman, OK rounded out the top three.

Hogan Flight:  The Edmond, OK pair of Tim Mathis and Bud Surber would need extra holes to finalize the deal.  Surber started out with a tough front nine, but went -1 over the first seven holes on the back to force the playoff.  On the first hole of the playoff Suber recorded his fourth win on tour and second on the year.  Three strokes out of the playoff Joe Deere of Catoosa, OK finished in the show position.

Sarazen Flight:   Colorado Tour player Ambrose (Tony) Solano of Aurora, Co picked up his second win on the year in Oklahoma after winning the first spring event at the March Kickingbird Challenge.   Gary Hayes of Chickasha, OK and Kansas City Tour member Stanley Emerson of Topeka, KS shared the second place honors three strokes back.

Jones Flight:  Scott Ingerson of Mustang, OK started out the back nine with an eagle on the par 5 -10th which turned out to just be enough for his first win on tour.  Fairview, OK member K.C. Montgomery finished just two strokes back with New Mexico Tour member Jeff Brown of Taos, NM rounding out the top three.

Next Up:  

The Oklahoma Tour will resume play on June 15th at the Edmond Summer Classic, Fairfax Golf Club.  REGISTRATION CLOSES June 7th at 11:59PM EST.

The Dallas Tour members will tee it up next for the Sunday June 9th at the Fairview Classic at Heritage RanchHill Country Tour returns to The Hills Country Club for the Austin - Nicklaus Open on June 8th.
