Owasso Championship at Bailey Ranch

Scott R Chilcutt, Owasso, OK (July 12, 2014)   The Oklahoma Tour returned back to Bailey Ranch Golf Club in Owasso, OK for the Owasso Championship.  Off the tour schedule since 2010 with some tough winter conditions the course, now back to speed, reminded players of the difficult layout.

Bud Surber, from the Hogan Flight, took home the Tournament Champion Trophy, presented by Carlisle's Engraving.

RESULTS:

Palmer Flight:  Oklahoma City, OK player, Jimmy Westfall bounced back from a fourth place finish in Stillwater in June, with an eleven stroke victory.  Bridies on the par 5 - 7th and par 5 - 14th had Westfall playing the par fives in one under par on the day for his second win on the season and twelfth on tour.  A Winner at the Cowboy Classic - Lakeside event,  Rick Olson took the runner up finish with Odessa, TX player Kent Mccord rounding out the top three.

Hogan Flight:   Bud Surber of Edmond, OK continued his winning ways picking up his fourth win on the season and eighth on tour.  Surber, kept the scorecard relatively clean until his final hole, but carded a birdie on the par 5 - 14th for a four stroke victory.   Fellow Edmond member, John Montazzoli equaled his best finish at the 2013 Edmond Summer Classic @ Fairfax with the runner up spot and Rod Haddock of Claremore, OK birdied three in a row on the back nine to take home the third place honors.

Sarazen Flight:   Blanchard, OK tour member, Jerime Parker birdied his third hole of the day, the par 4 - 3rd en route to his sixth win on tour and second of the season.  With the win, Parker jumped into second place in the Order of Merit points just 10 points out of the lead.  Vincent Gonzalez of Oklahoma City, finished four strokes back with Gary Schuessler of Wichita, KS and Edmond, OK resident, Christian Williamson sharing the third place finish.

Jones Flight:  Chris Manahan of Oklahoma City, took nine strokes off his back nine score with the help of a birdie at the par 5 - 14th for his first victory on tour. Crescent, OK player Ron Walker birdied the down hill par 4 - 10th to start the back nine, but couldn't keep up with Manahan, ending the round in the runner up spot.  William Hughes of Tulsa, playing in a combined Jones / Snead flight, rounded out the top three.
